Nutrient Content of 20-20-20 Water soluble fertilizer
One tonne of 20-20-20 Water soluble fertilizer supplies 200 kg of nitrogen (N), 200 kg of phosphate (P2O5) and 200 kg of potash (K2O) — a total of 60 nutrient units per 100 kg.
Nutrient supplied at different rates
What one hectare actually receives at a given spreading rate of 20-20-20 Water soluble fertilizer. Use it to work back from a nutrient target to a product rate.

Where NPK 20-20-20 Is Used
Fertigation through drip and sprinkler
The main use. Nutrient arrives at the root zone in the amount you choose, at the moment you choose, with no spreading pass and no waiting for rain to move it in.
Greenhouse and nursery production
Container growing gives a plant a tiny volume of media and no soil reserve to draw on, so nutrition has to come with the water. An even ratio is the standard maintenance feed.
Foliar feeding
For correcting a deficiency quickly or supporting a crop through a demanding stage. Foliar feeding supplements a fertiliser programme — it does not replace it, because leaves cannot take up the quantities roots can.
Hydroponics
As a base feed, adjusted with individual salts to the recipe the crop and the water analysis call for.
Transplant and establishment
Seedlings and transplants need all three major nutrients in small, available amounts while the root system develops.
Why Solubility Is the Whole Point
A granular fertiliser has to dissolve in soil moisture and move to the root before the plant sees any of it. A soluble fertiliser is already in solution when it arrives.
That buys you three things: timing — you feed at the growth stage that needs it, not weeks ahead; precision — rate is set by what you dissolve, not by what a spreader throws; and no blocked emitters, provided the product genuinely dissolves clear.
20-20-20 or a Granular Blend?
| Water-soluble 20-20-20 | Granular blend | |
|---|---|---|
| Applied by | Irrigation or sprayer | Spreader |
| Timing control | Precise, any growth stage | Fixed at application |
| Needs rain or irrigation to work | It is the irrigation | Yes |
| Cost per unit of nutrient | Higher | Lower |
| Suits | Horticulture, greenhouse, nursery, high-value crops under irrigation | Broadacre and pasture |
Most irrigated operations use both — a granular base at planting and soluble feed through the season. Send us the crop, the system and the water analysis and we will work out the split.
Packing and Quantities
20-20-20 Water soluble fertilizer is supplied in bulk, in 1,000 kg and 500 kg bulka bags, and in 50 kg and 25 kg bags. Minimum order is 10–25 MT, depending on the product and the destination. Packing formats, 20ft container loading figures, and bagging and marking are set out in full on our Delivery & Freight page.
Handling and Storage
Store 20-20-20 Water soluble fertilizer dry, off the ground and out of direct weather. Nitrogen and ammonium-based fertilisers draw moisture from the air and will cake if left exposed — full handling and storage guidance is on the Delivery & Freight page.
NPK 20-20-20 — Common Questions
What does 20-20-20 mean?
20% nitrogen, 20% phosphate as P2O5 and 20% potash as K2O by weight. One kilogram supplies 200 g of each.
Will it block my drippers?
A fully soluble grade dissolves clear and leaves no residue. Blockages generally come from the water chemistry or from mixing incompatible products in a concentrated tank — not from the fertiliser alone. Have the water tested and jar-test any mix before it goes in the line.
How much do I dissolve?
It depends on the crop, the growth stage, the system and the water. There is no single figure worth publishing, and anyone who gives you one without asking about your setup is guessing. Tell us the crop and the system and we will work through it with you.
Can I use it as a foliar spray?
Yes, at low concentration. Spray in the cool of the day, never on a wilting crop, and test a small area first.
Does it contain trace elements?
The straight 20-20-20 analysis covers the three major nutrients only. Grades with trace elements added are available — ask when you enquire and we will confirm what we can supply.
20-20-20 Water soluble fertilizer Data Sheet
A Certificate of Analysis for your delivered batch and the Safety Data Sheet are both available on request. The analysis in the data sheet is the nominal specification; where a Certificate of Analysis is issued for a batch, that certificate governs.
