Exporting Fertiliser from Australia: Containers and T/T

Dark granular organic fertiliser, close-up

We ship worldwide, and export enquiries usually arrive missing the same three details. This sets out what an export order actually involves, so your first message gets a real quote instead of a request for more information.

Container loading — how much actually fits

Fertiliser is dense, so a container reaches its weight limit long before it runs out of space. That means the packing format decides your net tonnage, because packaging and pallets eat payload.

Packing Loading Per 20ft container Net weight
25 kg bags Floor loaded 1,000 bags 25 MT
25 kg bags Palletised 20 pallets 20 MT
50 kg bags Floor loaded 500 bags 25 MT
1 t bulka bags (FIBC) Floor loaded 20 – 25 bags 20 – 25 MT
Bulk Container liner — 25 – 27 MT

Palletising costs you about five tonnes per container. It buys faster, safer handling at the destination. Whether that is worth five tonnes of freight depends entirely on what you are unloading with at the far end — worth deciding deliberately rather than by default.

A full 20ft container is the most economical unit to buy. Our minimum order is 10–25 MT depending on product and destination.

Documents that travel with the shipment

Document What it is for
Commercial invoice Customs valuation and payment
Packing list Quantities, weights, packing format
Bill of lading Title and release of the cargo
Certificate of Analysis The declared analysis for the batch shipped
Safety Data Sheet Handling, storage and emergency information
Certificate of Origin Required by many customs authorities; may affect duty

Tell us at enquiry stage if your customs authority requires anything beyond this — fumigation certificates, pre-shipment inspection, legalisation, or specific phytosanitary paperwork. It is far easier to arrange before the container is packed than after it sails.

Payment: T/T

Export orders are paid by telegraphic transfer (T/T) — bank to bank. Within Australia the equivalent is ordinary EFT. We do not take cards, PayPal or any online payment, and there is no checkout anywhere on this website. Terms are agreed in writing on the quotation before anything is packed.

Guard against invoice fraud. Our bank details appear only on an invoice we issue you directly. We will never notify you of changed bank details by email. If you receive any message claiming our account has changed, do not act on it — telephone us on 0420 129 507 and verify it verbally first. Invoice-redirection fraud targets exactly this kind of transaction, and a phone call takes a minute.

Duties, customs and destination rules

Import duties, customs clearance and compliance with destination-country regulations are the buyer’s responsibility, as set out in our terms. Fertiliser registration and labelling requirements differ substantially between countries — check what your jurisdiction requires before ordering, not after the container arrives.

What to send for an export quote

  • Product and analysis — grade, or the specification you need matched
  • Quantity — in MT, or number of containers
  • Packing — 25 kg, 50 kg, bulka bag or bulk; palletised or floor loaded
  • Destination port — and the Incoterm you work on
  • Documents required — anything beyond the standard set above
  • Company details — registered name, address and contact

Send those six and the quote comes back complete. The catalogue lists all 130 analyses with their nutrient loading, and every product has a free technical data sheet you can forward to your customs broker.
