Delivery & Freight

Home » Delivery & Freight

Fertiliser is heavy, and freight is often the difference between a good buy and a bad one. We quote it openly as part of the job rather than burying it, so you can see what the product costs delivered to your gate.

Where we deliver

We deliver Australia-wide — every state and territory, metropolitan, regional and remote — from our base at Kapunda Rd, Hamilton in South Australia. Tell us the delivery address and we will quote the freight to it.

We also arrange international shipping worldwide. Export consignments involve customs clearance and destination-country import requirements, and some fertiliser products carry additional documentation or restrictions depending on where they are going. Tell us the destination country and the product early in your enquiry and we will confirm what is needed before you commit to anything.

Payment

Payment is by bank transfer — EFT within Australia, and telegraphic transfer (T/T) for export orders. Terms, including any deposit, are set out on your written quotation. There is no payment facility on this website and we will never ask you to enter payment details here.

Verify our bank details by phone before you transfer. Our account details are issued on our invoice only, and we will never change them by email alone. If you receive a message that appears to come from us with different account details, call 0420 129 507 and confirm with a person first. Invoice-redirection fraud is common in international trade and funds sent to a third party cannot be recovered.

Freight is the variable, not the destination. A full load travels a long way economically; a part load does not. Whatever the size of your order we quote the freight openly, so you can see the delivered cost before you decide.

How we supply

BulkFor larger tonnages, delivered loose. Tell us how you unload — tipping, auger or loader.
Bulka bagsOne-tonne bags where bulk handling is not practical, or where product needs to be stored a while before it goes on.
Minimum order: 10–25 MT. The exact figure depends on the product and the destination — some analyses and some destinations carry a higher minimum than others. Freight is quoted per consignment, and a full 20ft container at around 25 MT is normally the most economical way to buy, because the freight cost per tonne drops sharply once the load is full.
BaggedWhere smaller quantities or easier handling are needed. Ask what is available for the analysis you want.

Packing formats and container loading

Every product is supplied in the formats below. Tell us which suits your handling, storage and spreading setup and we will confirm availability and price for the quantity you need. Minimum order is 10–25 MT, depending on the product and the destination.

Container loading — 20ft FCL

The quantities below are what a standard 20-foot container holds in each packing format. Use them to work back from a container to a tonnage, or forward from your required tonnage to a shipment size.

Why 20ft and not 40ft? Fertiliser is a dense cargo. A 20-foot container reaches its weight limit at roughly 25–27 tonnes while still only part full, so the extra space in a 40-foot box cannot be used. Shipping in 20-foot containers is standard for this reason, and it is almost always the cheaper freight per tonne. A 20ft load also sits neatly at the upper end of our minimum order range.

Bagging and marking

  • Bags are woven polypropylene with an inner liner, heat-sealed and stitched, to keep moisture out during transit and storage.
  • Bulka bags are fitted with lifting loops and a discharge spout for loader handling.
  • Each bag is marked with the product name, the declared analysis, the net weight and the batch reference so it can be traced back to its Certificate of Analysis.
  • Palletised loads are shrink-wrapped and strapped. Loose-stacked loads are floor loaded directly into the container.
  • Customer-specified bag printing and private labelling can be quoted on request for larger volumes.

Handling and storage

Store fertiliser dry, off the ground and out of direct weather. Nitrogen and ammonium-based fertilisers are hygroscopic — they draw moisture from the air and will cake or set hard if left exposed. Keep bags closed until use, rotate stock, and do not stack beyond the height the packaging is rated for.

Request the Safety Data Sheet before handling. The SDS covers hazard classification, protective equipment, first aid and spill response, and must be accessible to everyone who handles, transports or stores the product. Ask for it with your enquiry and we will supply it. A technical data sheet is product specification only — it is not a Safety Data Sheet.

How freight is quoted

Freight is quoted per consignment rather than published as a rate, because it depends on:

  • Tonnage — a full load is materially cheaper per tonne than a part load
  • Distance and access — including whether a B-double can reach the unloading point
  • Packaging — bulk, bulka bag and palletised bagged product all cart differently
  • Timing — freight availability tightens sharply in peak season

Every quote we issue states the freight component separately, so you can see the product price and the delivered price.

What we need to quote freight

Delivery addressThe actual property or nearest town. A postcode alone is usually enough for an indicative figure.
AccessWhat size vehicle can reach the unloading point, and whether there is all-weather access.
UnloadingWhether you have a loader, forklift or tipping facility on site, or need the vehicle to self-unload.
TimingThe date you need it on the ground, and how much flexibility there is.

Lead times

Lead time is confirmed in writing with your quotation. If you have a spreading window to hit, give us the date and we will tell you straight away whether we can meet it — rather than quoting and disappointing you later.

Collection

If you would rather collect than pay freight, ask. We will confirm whether that works for the product and quantity you need.

Storage on arrival. Once product is delivered it needs to be kept dry and off the ground. Urea and ammonium-based products in particular pick up moisture quickly and will set hard if left exposed. If you are storing for any length of time, tell us and we will advise on packaging that suits.

Not sure if we reach you?

Tell us the nearest town and roughly how much you need. We will tell you honestly whether the freight makes sense.
